EHS AFFAIRS

The challenge of understanding compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations is knowing and understanding which regulations apply and what is required to meet them.

The good news is that the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Affairs Department at Printing Industries of America knows and understands the industry and the requirements. And we are here to help. The EHS team can quickly determine which Environmental Protection Agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and Department of Transportation regulations apply to your specific operation and provide guidance and personalized recommendations on what you need to do to achieve and maintain compliance.

Understanding your compliance status provides several advantages. First and foremost, compliance with regulations protects your physical assets, employees, and the surrounding community. It enhances your relationship with customers, and in today's heightened enforcement climate, it prevents penalties and bad publicity resulting from serious accidents and violations.

Our EHS department experts have conducted hundreds of compliance audits and answer many questions every day on compliance matters. From this experience the EHS Affairs Department at Printing Industries of America has developed expertise that is not like any other consulting firm, and this expertise can be shared through a selection of EHS consulting services designed to assist members in understanding and verifying that facility activities and operations are carried out in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. We understand that every printing operation is unique, and to meet our members’ individual compliance assessment needs, we have developed a number of consulting service options available for facilities of any size and at any stage in developing and implementing a compliance management program.

Virtual Compliance Assessment

If you are looking to gain a quick understanding of your compliance obligations, want a beginning point for your compliance program, or an update of requirements, then the Virtual Compliance Assessment is a great approach.

This service provides you with a collection of applicable Federal and State EHS regulations for a single facility location. With this service, the company completes a questionnaire containing a set of standard EHS survey questions. Based on the survey answers and conversations with the facility personnel, the regulatory expert establishes which federal, state, and local EHS regulations would most typically apply, and this information is presented in a matrix.

The matrix will identify all applicable requirements, provide an exact legal citation, include a summary of the requirements, and a frequency of action and deadlines.

A review of physical facility conditions/operations/work practices and compliance recommendations are not included in this level of service.

Standard Facility Compliance Audit

If you are looking to have an expert visit your facility to gain a quick understanding of your compliance obligations, want a beginning point for your compliance program, or an update of requirements, then the Standard Service Audit will meet that need.

With this service a member of the EHS Affairs Department at Printing Industries of America will conduct a one-day, on-site compliance review for a single facility location.

The auditor will perform a simple on-site review, observing facility conditions, operations, and regulatory documentation. A reference report is issued to the facility which identifies the applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations.

Recommendations, review of work practices, program details, permits, and other related compliance documentation are not included with this level of service.

Comprehensive Facility Compliance Audit

If you are looking to have an expert visit your facility to gain a detailed understanding of your compliance obligations, then the Comprehensive Facility Audit will meet that need.

With this service a member of the EHS Affairs Department at Printing Industries of America will conduct an in-depth, on-site, compliance assessment for one or more company locations. The audit will examine, in detail, all facility conditions, operations, work practices, and associated regulatory documentation.

Applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations are researched and cross referenced to the audit findings after which a detailed report, including compliance recommendations, will be prepared and issued.
