Thinking Outside the Box

The corrugated segment of the packaging industry is rapidly expanding. The evolution of digital printing technologies has created many new opportunities for this segment, and it has shown the potential to surpass flexographic and lithographic methods.

The increased popularity of these innovations comes from their improved effectiveness when properly incorporated into processes. For example, single-pass printing technology can produce at great speed and can ultimately improve an organization’s ROI. These benefits have given support to the idea that digital printing technologies will be incorporated in ways that will replace certain traditional analog approaches.

Nowadays, brand owners are looking for increased speed and improved quality in order to respond to changing customer demands, and these advanced technologies allow for that flexibility. Brand owners can produce more efficiently, and particularly in the corrugated segments, they are also more capable of customization and versioning, creating more channels to satisfy the markets they serve.

EFI has been a leader in manufacturing these new technologies with their introduction of the EFI Nozomi C18000 Single-Pass Press. The device has enabled faster production and higher quality digitally printed corrugated display work. Other players like Landa and HP Inc. are joining EFI, and many others are expected to follow suit as digital technologies continue to develop.
