Even though Super Bowl 50 was be played in Santa Clara, California this year, the majority of events and promotions are occurring in San Francisco and the City of San Francisco were making sure its sign codes were enforced during the events. A very large scale example of enforcement occurred when the City Attorney handed down a legal request to Verizon Wireless after the company erected a building wrap over the Four Embarcadero tower.
The city demanded Verizon to remove the oversized building wrap immediately which violated the sign code which prohibits outsized general advertising signs and prohibits new general advertising signs at any location within the city.
The city maintained enforcement and monitored all Super Bowl events as well as other future venues to ensure no violations occur within city limits.
