Develop a written safety policy (10 points) and share it with your employees (5 points) ? Guidelines
Jan 25, 2017
A written safety policy will help strengthen safety in your facility and demonstrate that safety is a core component of your company’s culture. Develop a safety policy that reflects the needs of your workplace and employees. The policy should cover your company’s safety objectives and plans, and may outline things like responsibility of all employees in maintaining a safe workplace, upper management’s commitment to keeping the workplace safe, and commitment to regular reviews of this policy.
Once the policy is written, it will only be effective if all employees are aware of it. Share the policy with your employees through training, postings in the workplace, in a meeting, or whichever way you see fit for your facility. If you need some guidance or don’t know where to start, download SGIA’s safety policy template.
To receive points for this action item, submit your written safety policy to allison@sgia.org and provide a picture or other proof to show that you have disseminated it to employees. You will receive ten points for creating the policy and five points for sharing it with workers.
