Inspecting the Workplace
Jan 25, 2017
Inspecting the workplace has been the major component of the safety recognition program in the past, and it continues to be an important part of keeping your facility safe. SGIA has provided participants with bi-monthly checklists to complete while you do your inspections. Keeping up with these checklists will help you determine areas where you need to improve, and track your progress on safety issues.
Inspections: Officials of participating member companies must indicate on the program's Safety Checklists the results of their safety inspection. Each checklist must be dated, and the name of the person performing the inspection must be recorded.
The Hazard Communication/WHMIS and Personal Protective Equipment sections must also be completed. Additional space is included in this section for any additional comments. The Hazard Communication section should be completed by all participants with safety right to know programs, such as the United States with its Right to Know Program, and Canada with its WHIMS program. For questions that do not apply to your facility, "N/A" is an acceptable response.
Pledge: By listing their name on the checklist, the chief operating officer of each participating member firm is attesting to the fact that a self-inspection, in accordance with the Safety Checklists, has been made. Participants failing to return a form bimonthly will not be considered for Awards. (For your own records, please save the confirmation emails sent to you after your submission of the checklists.)
To receive points for this action item, complete the following safety checklists throughout the year:
November/December: Due Dec 31, 2018
January/February: Due Feb 28, 2019
You will receive 10 points for each checklist that you complete.
