Fairfax, Virginia — Expert graphics installer Rob Ivers, Rob Ivers Inc. (Raymore, Missouri) says customers want one-stop graphics shopping.
“Adding installation to the services you offer is a way to satisfy clients who want to have a printer handle car wraps as well as their other graphics needs. It’s a way to keep clients happy and, ultimately, to keep them coming back,” he said.
Ivers, who’s been conducting vehicle wrap training since 1993, returns to the SGIA Expo along with Shane Courtney, Core Graphics & Signs (Tallahassee, Florida), to lead this fall’s “Wrap Like a Pro” workshops.
“If you have the printing equipment and the design expertise, this class can help you bridge the gap. Of all the things you have to do to take on wraps, installation is the one that takes the longest to do well. That’s what we’re helping with in this class. We focus on the skills to put the vinyl on the car.”
Each of the three day-long workshop sessions will use the same curriculum and break out into sections based on skill level. Beginning and intermediate students will get special instruction and practice, while advanced students will have the opportunity to explore the latest tools, vinyl and techniques, with special focus on bumpers, mirrors, pre-stretching and post-heating.
“Our goal is to meet people wherever they are and help them get to the next level,” Ivers said. He notes that the workshop can also be an eye-opener.
“Students can use the day to find out if they have an aptitude for vehicle wrapping, to discover how easy or hard it is. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to get a solid foundation,” Ivers said.
Wrap Like a Pro is an off-site workshop presented by the 2017 SGIA Expo. Classes run 9:00 am–4:00 pm October 10 and 11, and 8:00 am–3:00 pm October 12. The $349 fee includes lunch and bus transportation between the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and the training location — once each morning and back again after class. Students will receive a complimentary set of basic tools.
Sign up for Wrap Like a Pro when you register for the 2017 SGIA Expo (New Orleans, October 10–12) at SGIAExpo.org. Attendees may add Wrap Like a Pro to their previously-submitted registrations. Wrap Like a Pro is not included in the Expo + Education Pass.
