PIA Responds to State of the Union; Releases 2018 State of the Industry Report

Pittsburgh, PA--Printing Industries of America, in response to last evening's State of the Union address, has issued its 2018 State of the Industry report today outlining the economic and public policy outlook for 2018.

The following is a statement by Printing Industries of America President & CEO Michael Makin:

"Last night, Americans heard President Trump say that the state of our union is strong. Today, I want to echo that sentiment to say that the printing industry is strong. We employ more than 800,000 workers and produce more than $165 billion dollars worth of product each year.

Print will face opportunities and challenges in 2018, but economic indicators and certain public policy influences highlighted last night--small business tax relief, workforce development and vocation education along with regulatory reform--can be leveraged to achieve success this year.

I'm pleased to present our 2018 State of the Industry report detailing economic analysis, market forecasts, and potential policy impacts for printing and packaging companies. Most importantly, this year's State of the Industry report provides strategic advice on how print owners can capitalize on the momentum of current business and manufacturing optimism.

America is strong, and print powers America. I want to thank all of the companies in this fantastic industry for your determination, innovation, and continued passion for print. I hope you find PIA's State of the Industry report useful as you propel your companies to new heights in 2018."

The report is available at: www.printing.org/stateoftheindustry. The report was made possible by contributions from Michael Makin, President & CEO; Dr. Ronnie Davis, Senior Vice President and Chief Economist; Lisbeth Lyons, Vice President of Government Affairs; and Tai McNaughton, Senior Economist. Interviews are available upon request.
