The BoxMaker, a manufacturer of digitally printed packaging solutions, has announced its purchase of an HP PageWide C500 Press, bringing the first post-print HP digital corrugated press to the Pacific Northwest. To meet increasing demand from brands to engage consumers by aligning their marketing campaigns with packaging and display, in high volumes and quick turnaround times, The BoxMaker will install the HP PageWide C500 this fall at its manufacturing headquarters just outside of Seattle, Washington.
The addition of the industrial-scale HP PageWide C500 builds on the company’s seven-plus years of experience with high-value corrugated display and high-graphic retail packaging production using the corrugated HP Scitex 15500 and 17000 presses and HP Indigo WS6800 for labels and folding cartons.
With the HP PageWide C500 Press, The BoxMaker will be able to digitally print corrugated orders of any size in offset quality, delivering sharp text and barcodes, smooth tone transitions and vivid colors, while expanding service for agriculture, specialty food and beverage brands thanks to HP’s food-safe water-based inks.
In addition to the packaging solutions produced for their Pacific Northwest clients, The BoxMaker addresses increased demand for digital orders across the United States and Canada via its web-to-print packaging business fantastapack.com, an all-digital solution that enables businesses to conveniently design and order high-graphic custom packaging online.
Additionally, The BoxMaker will be leveraging the ERP integration offered by HP One Package workflow to maximize the flexibility and efficiency of digital production. Solutions include MIS connectivity allowing integration of the press into existing business and production management tools and processes, as well as the HP Production Prime high-performance print server for control and automation of jobs and color processing.
The HP PageWide C500 Press produces offset quality for mainstream production using water-based, food compliant inks, printing on both primary and secondary food packaging without an additional barrier which can comply with even the most stringent global food safety regulations, including Nestlé guidance and Swiss Ordinance.
The BoxMaker began as a brown box plant in 1981. Driven by innovation, the company has made significant investments to expand product offerings to deliver game-changing packaging products and services, including digitally printed packaging solutions. Their purchase of the HP PageWide C500 Press reflects a continued effort to make investments that deliver a competitive edge to clients.
