JohnsByrne Completes Eagle Systems Cold Foil Certification Program

Eagle Systems, Inc., a U.S.-based developer and manufacturer of foil enhancement equipment, announced that JohnsByrne has successfully completed their Eagle Cold Foil Certification Course (ECFC). The comprehensive eight-hour program is not only geared toward improving production understanding and techniques of press operators, but incorporates the executive management level, ensuring that each Eagle Cold Foil user achieves both the highest quality and maximized ROI.

Luxury packaging printer JohnsByrne installed the Eagle Systems Cold Foil system in late 2017 to better serve their client base and increase their ability to innovate. Founded in 1959, the organization remains a family-owned operation, with founder, John B. Gustafson’s four sons — Corey, Jack, Pate and Mike — running the business as CEO, COO and Executive Vice Presidents, respectively.

“We are a very client-centric, customer-focused operation,” notes CEO Corey Gustafson. “We look at the marketplace, and seek optimum solutions to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. Like our clients, we’re constantly seeking out new ways to enhance our current product lines. Accordingly, we’re very proactive about getting in front of our clients’ needs via the finest available technology. The Eagle Systems Cold Foil system has proven to be a great compliment to our offering; it was the right fit, at the right time.

“In just over a year since, the Eagle System has enabled us to systematically expand our capabilities, growing in sophistication and design skills as client demand and applications have evolved. Being a very comprehensive tool, the more your team uses it, the more it becomes an integral production component, practically selling itself. The certification program was a natural progression to ensuring we are maximizing the system’s potential to the nth degree. In the less than 90 days since we completed the program, we’ve benefitted from a deeper understanding of the underlying science and have added several new high-quality capabilities to our production portfolio.”

“We’ve experienced a global adoption of cold foil in recent years,” said Mike King, President and CEO, Eagle Systems. “The applications are limited only to the printers’ imagination, and few are as aggressively pursuing to demolish the proverbial box like the JohnsByrne organization. Cold Foil offers their clients an innovative option that transcends the demands of their most high-end customers. It gives them the ability to say ‘yes’ to more projects, with less time and money required to make it happen. We are excited to work with them, and we are looking forward to watching where they take this technology well into the future.”

Corey Gustafson has been pleased with many business benefits of working with Eagle Systems. “Eagle has been so easy to work with, but that’s what we expected, based upon their industry reputation. They really go out of their way to ensure your success, both internally with your production team, and clearly with clients through evolving applications. The result has been more effective and diversified services for established clientele, and greater reach into new markets and businesses. Eagle innovation equips us to be faster to market with more impacting product, and their advanced training ensures that we’re continuously in a leadership position.”

The ECFC course is conducted at the user’s production facility to ensure all real-world factors and influences are incorporated. Eagle has designed a unique test form, designed for failure, to run off each applicant’s system. The press is then finite-tweaked to maximize performance out of each operation’s adhesives, foils and blankets. One of the end results is the elimination of former process obstacles, such as pin-holing and mud cracking. Regardless of the previous experience level, the ECFC will yield significant business and Cold Foil performance advancements.
