Production Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Directs and coordinates production operations to obtain efficiency and economy of operations. Plans, develops, and implements company policies and goals. Analyzes production operations and determines changes in production procedures. Plans production operations, establishes priorities, and sequence for manufacturing products by performing the following duties personally or through assistant personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as quantity, size, color, and specifications, and schedules delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations, establishes priorities, and schedules jobs.
  • Prepares departmental budget and monitors expenditure of budgeted funds.
  • Establishes priorities and sequence for manufacturing products.
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets customer specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance, optimum utilization, and Develops or revises standard operational and work practices and trains workers to ensure compliance with established standards.safe operation.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Maintains production records.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of supervisory and non-supervisory personnel. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assisting, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Production Management from four-year college or university; or three to five years of screen printing and/or digital imaging production management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong skills in work planning, scheduling, and must have good judgment of color, design, and printing quality.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to printing jobs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
