JOB SUMMARY
Conducts in-process inspections at various stages of production to maintain quality standards. Randomly selects goods for testing and measurement, judges goods acceptability in comparison to customer and internal quality specifications. Maintains a product quality documentation system by performing the following duties personally or through assistant personnel. May work more than one production line as roving inspector.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interprets drawings, specifications, diagrams, or other information and confers with management or support staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and durability characteristics.
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
- Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, printed parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
- Prepares graphs or charts of data or enters data into computer for analysis.
- Maintains a product quality documentation system.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two years of concentrated study in Quality Assurance or Engineering; or three to five years of screen printing and/or digital imaging quality assurance or engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong skills in conducting quality/engineering studies, testing, measurement, and must have good judgment of color, design, and printing quality.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to printing jobs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, The employee is frequently exposed to fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Some independent travel is required.
