In addition to a donation to their hometown City of Dover, N.H., RELYCO donated to the City of Portsmouth, Town of Greenland, Town of Rye and the New Hampshire Grocers Association (NHGA). The shields will be used by various branches of the recipient municipalities, including fire departments, police departments and school districts. NHGA will distribute the face shields to their members, which include both independent and chained retail grocers in the state, and COVID-assisting non-profits. NHGA is also coordinating distribution through Associated Grocers of New England.
RELYCO was able to support the early need for personal protective equipment by leveraging their extensive materials and converting expertise to manufacture the shields. These PET face shields are made in the United States and offer a foam forehead band, which allows the wearer to comfortably use glasses or goggles in conjunction with the face shield. This provides critical protection for first responders and frontline workers. As the PPE shortages continue and the United States faces an unprecedented pandemic winter, RELYCO made the decision to donate all of their remaining face shields to local governments and grocers.
According to Bruce Steinberg, CEO of RELYCO, “We were fortunate to be in a position where we had face shields in stock. With this donation, we wanted to salute the hard work of our first responders, the teachers we’re relying on to educate our kids and workers who are keeping groceries on the shelves. At RELYCO, our core values are based on being of service to others and that’s what this is all about. We wanted to do our part to help keep these folks as safe as possible.”
“Rye Fire Rescue is extremely grateful for the donation of face shields for our ambulance personnel,” stated Rye Fire Chief Mark Cotreau. “Supply chain issues during this pandemic are difficult to navigate and financially straining. RELYCO’s donation of face shields for use in our ambulance service will make providing exceptional emergency medical service to our patients safer for our members!”
The RELYCO team was glad to make a meaningful impact in the communities in which they live and work.
