LOUISVILLE, KY - July 17, 2024 - Komori America is pleased to announce that Vivid Impact, a leading graphic communications company specializing in both commercial and packaging printing in Louisville, KY, is installing its latest Komori GL 640/C, 6 Color Sheetfed Commercial Press. This significant investment underscores Vivid Impact's commitment to delivering high-quality printing solutions and meeting the evolving needs of its diverse client base.

With the objective to provide top-tier printing services, Vivid Impact has built a strong reputation in the industry. The decision to invest in the Komori GL 640/C was driven by a desire to enhance production capabilities, improve efficiency, and support future growth plans.

Brandon Boyers, Executive Vice President & Chief Manufacturing Officer at Vivid Impact, shared insights into the selection process, "We've had Komori presses for over 25 years, and they've always delivered exceptional performance and reliability. Our decision to go with the Komori GL 640/C was based on our positive experiences and the need for advanced features like LED curing for synthetic substrates. This new press will replace both an older generation Komori and a Heidelberg press, enhancing our production capabilities significantly."

The installation process has been seamless, with the press arriving on June 10, 2024. Within a week and a half, the press was assembled and powered, showcasing the efficiency of Komori's installation team. It was finally signed off and operational on July 5th.

Vivid Impact's Diverse Printing Capabilities
Vivid Impact's portfolio includes a balanced mix of commercial and packaging printing, with each segment currently representing approximately 50% of their total volume. The new Komori GL 640/C will support the growing demand for packaging. Boyers highlighted that their packaging sector has doubled annually over the past three years, driven by strong customer demand. The outlook for packaging continues to be positive, with expectations for this trend to persist, further solidifying its importance in their business strategy.

Enhanced Efficiency and Reduced Waste
The GL 640/C press promises substantial improvements in efficiency, reducing make-ready times and waste. Boyers noted, "In an eight-hour shift, we typically handle eight to ten different jobs with various plate changes. The new press will significantly cut down on make-ready times, potentially saving us two to three hours per shift."

This investment aligns with Vivid Impact's strategy of leveraging advanced automation and technology to stay competitive. The new press will help consolidate production and streamline operations.

Future Plans and Expansion
Vivid Impact's growth trajectory has been remarkable. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has expanded its revenue from $20 million in 2020 to an expected $60 million in 2024. This growth includes a substantial new contract with a major convenience store chain, further driving the need for advanced printing capabilities.

To support this expansion, Vivid Impact operates multiple facilities, including a 90,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, a 25,000-square-foot offset facility, a 60,000-square-foot warehouse, all located in Louisville, and a new 50,000-square-foot facility in Arizona focused on digital and fulfillment services.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Emphasizing a culture of continuous improvement, Vivid Impact adopted the mantra "better every day" in 2021. This philosophy drives their approach to process improvement and operational excellence, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the industry.
