SPARTA, Mich. — General Formulations, the solutions leader and global manufacturer of pressure-sensitive media, film, and laminates, is proud to announce the promotion of Dan Collins to Vice President of Purchasing & Production. Collins is a passionate leader with more than 20 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, and multi-channel product distribution with P&L ownership, making him a great fit in this new role.
Since joining General Formulations in November 2023 as Finishing Plant Manager, Collins has played a pivotal role in streamlining production operations and driving continuous improvement. His dedication to fostering teamwork, coupled with his belief in leading by example, aligns seamlessly with GF’s commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and responsible manufacturing.
Throughout his career, Collins has demonstrated a remarkable ability to blend strategic vision with hands-on leadership. He began his professional journey in sales and marketing, but after securing his first major client, he discovered a passion for customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This realization led him to shift his focus to production, where he has spent much of his career optimizing workflows and enhancing efficiencies across multiple industries.
Collins’ experience includes notable achievements, such as managing the opening of Amazon fulfillment center spanning millions of square feet, where his team achieved a record-breaking inbound and outbound package handling volume within a single day. He has led teams of up to 800 employees and successfully operated his own business, Eagle Auto Parts, specializing in vehicle recycling. His entrepreneurial spirit and ability to inspire teams to achieve exceptional results are hallmarks of his leadership style.
Collins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Grand Valley State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. His expertise spans financial analysis, change management, process improvement, and lean manufacturing, among other areas.
“Dan’s entrepreneurial mindset, coupled with his extensive experience in operations and his commitment to fostering strong team dynamics, make him the ideal candidate for this role,” said Mike Clay, President of General Formulations. “We are confident that under his leadership, GF will continue to enhance its operational excellence and deliver exceptional value to our customers worldwide.”
