Maine Air Permitting Issues

Maine has a Title V permit program in place. Major sources include facilities with the Potential to Emit one or more of the following are major sources:
- 50 tons per year VOC
- 10 tons per year of a single Hazardous Air Pollutant
- 25 tons per year of all Hazardous Air Pollutants combined
- 100 tons per year of any other regulated pollutant
- Installation of new equipment or modification of existing equipment requires a New Source Review (NSR) license processed under Chapter 115.
Minor sources include facilities with Potential to Emit less than the following:
- 50 tons per year VOC
- 10 tons per year of single Hazardous Air Pollutant
- 25 tons per year of all Hazardous Air Pollutants combined
- 100 tons per year of any other regulated pollutant
Photographic process equipment by which an image is reproduced upon material sensitized to radiant energy, e.g., blueprint activity, photocopiers, mimeograph, telefax, photographic developing and microfiche and packaging equipment that does not use VOC or HAP containing adhesives are exempt.
