Making Hot Split Heat Transfers

The rise and fall of the heat transfer in the screen printing industry is legendary. From a quick rise to fame in the mid- and late-seventies to a quick decline in the early eighties—the heat transfer has gone
through many changes. The most notable and important change was the development, as well as industry and consumer acceptance, of the hot-split (also called hot-peel) plastisol transfer. This paper will address the specific steps, techniques and materials needed to make quality hot-split heat transfers for garment and textile applications.
