Production Expediter

Job Summary
Maintains a file of outstanding production orders and informs management personnel concerning job progress. Checks production schedule, verifies progress of jobs, and informs supervisor concerning any variations. Compiles list of materials needed for job and contacts vendors to requisition materials. Arranges for notification and distribution of materials upon arrival by performing following duties personally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Checks schedule sheets, verifies progress of jobs, and informs supervisor of any variance from production schedule.
- Responds to requests from sales personnel concerning schedule status.
- May determine shipping priorities from schedule sheet, and inform inspection, finishing, and shipping departments when necessary.
- Maintains an outstanding orders file and post delivery dates specified.
- Compiles list of materials needed for job and contacts vendors to requisition materials.
- Arranges for notification and distribution of materials upon arrival.
- Delivers supplementary instructions to production personnel when necessary.
- Picks up samples daily from inspection department and files in reference envelopes.
- Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
Production Expediter>High school diploma or general education degree (GED): or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Some independent travel may be required.
