Rhode Island Air Permitting Issues
Written October 17, 2019
All facilities in Rhode Island are required to obtain an air permit from the state. Facilities which meet the following criteria must obtain a minor permit:
The facility has emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) of up to 100 pounds per day or 10 pounds per hour, or the facility has potential emissions of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) of 10 tons for one, or the facility emits 25 tons of a combination of HAPs.
If a facility is using a listed air toxic, then the facility must obtain an air toxic operating permit. A minor source permit is required for those facilities with the potential to emit 10 tons per year of one hazardous air pollutant or 25 tons per year of a combination of hazardous air pollutants
