Since the 1940s, the science of total quality management, statistical process control, quality control, etc. has evolved into some very sophisticated and comprehensive systems. Many of these are available with a germane software package to facilitate data collection and analysis. Irrespective, our goal here is not to er a “how to” on quality control — rather, it is a primer intended to compel the uninitiated reader to investigate the principles and practices presented herein. So, you probably are asking yourself, “Is all this numero-clerical mumbo jumbo realistic and useful for my print and manufacturing department?” Let’s use an example to answer the question.
