G7® Expert Training & Certification hosted by Idealliance & Fujifilm in Hanover Park, IL featuring live in-person instructor led hands-on training. G7® Expert Training teaches professionals how to analyze color and print-related issues and take corrective action to bring systems and processes in control to a set method, standard or specification with repeatable, predictable results. Idealliance G7 Trainer Mike Whelpley will lead this multi-day training focusing on G7 based print and packaging applications, and G7 integration, maintenance, and process control across all print and proofing applications. About G7 Expert Live Virtual Certification & Training

Training consists of a variety of components, including lecture, demonstration, production, and extensive hands-on through critical concepts, press runs and print calibration, and analysis. Students are strongly encouraged to bring their measurment devices including hand-held spectrophotometers and other color quality tools and solutions to participate in the included activities to further assist with integrating G7® based color management and process control into their own production environments.

Training Info

G7 Expert Certification LIVE In-Person training is specially designed to provide hands-on experience to further drive participants knowledge and familiarity with concepts across their print production environment. This interactive training takes place over 3 consecutive days. An active, open dialogue is maintained by the instructor to encourage questions, collaboration, and testing to be able to drive G7 based print production.

Materials to Help You Prepare

When you sign up, you will receive a library of print resources so you can participate during the instructor-led hands-on activities. Downloadable production resource materials such as G7 test forms help you learn how to implement G7 in your facility to obtain G7 Master qualification. You will also receive access to the extensive online training library including on-demand training recordings to view to support your continued growth as a G7 Expert.

4:00 pm Lab: Live Proofer Calibration and Verification, including how to make a color-managed G7 proof. Create color-managed proof over a base soft G7 calibration.

09:15 am Lecture: G7 and Color Management. Using G7 to enhance accuracy and efficiency of an ICC workflow.

10:30 am Break

10:45 am Live Demo: Calibrating & Profiling a Digital Press. Using various characterization targets and software. Compensating (if necessary) for paper color variations, measuring anomalies, etc.

11:45 am Live Demo: Simulating GRACoL (or other RPC). Converting files from GRACoL (or SWOP) to a custom digital press profile in RIP or Photoshop. Deciding the appropriate rendering intent, etc.

12:00 pm Lunch (1 Hour On-Site)

1:00 pm Live Demo: Verifying Press or Proof Accuracy. Measuring the color-managed P2P and IT8.7/5 targets. Numeric comparison in various software.

2:15 pm Break

2:30 pm Lecture: G7 Compliance

3:00 pm Lecture: Press Calibration & G7 Press Control. Focused on digital but applicable to all printing methods. Includes calculating custom target CIELab values for actual stock color by SCCA method.

4:00 pm Lecture / Discussion: G7 Quality Control (Press & Proof). Using G7 in daily production. Printing to numbers vs. printing to the proof. Analyzing proof / press accuracy with IT8.7/4, P2P and ISO 12647-7 targets. Tolerance and process control discussion.

09:15 am Lecture: Implementing G7. Calculating G7 curves using workflow solutions for your print production (PowerPoint slides, not a live demonstration).

10:45 am Lecture / Demo: G7 in the Pre-Press Workflow. Integrating G7 and color management in a complete workflow - Photoshop settings - handling incoming files - accurate soft proofing setup, etc.

11:30 am Discussion: Being a G7 Expert or G7 Professional & Review. How can G7 best support your business model? Does G7 offer any potential quality or cost advantages to you and/or your clients? How would you take G7 to the field? The G7 Master application process & preparation for the web-based G7 Expert examination.
