Fairfax, Virginia — Time is running out! Get your entries in now for the Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition, sponsored by the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technologies (ASDPT). Highly sought after by graphic arts students, this competition honors superior imaging work from secondary (high school and vocational) students and post-secondary (technical school, college or university) students. All entries must be received by July 31!
Dedicated in honor of Tom Frecska, the late editor of ScreenPrinting Magazine, and one of the strongest supporters of the screen printing industry, this is a unique opportunity for students to have their finest work evaluated by Academy experts. Submissions will be displayed during the 2013 SGIA Expo (Orlando, October 23–25).
Teachers are encouraged to submit multiple entries on their students’ behalf, in any of the 24 categories. Submitted work is eligible for the following awards:
Award of Excellence First place winners within each category will receive an Academy Student Achievement Award.
Certificate of Merit An honorable mention may be awarded from each category.
Best of Show Two exceptional entries (one from each division, secondary and post-secondary) will be chosen from the Award of Excellence winners, and will be honored with Best of Show. These winners will receive a special Academy Student Achievement Award and a cash prize of $500 to use toward their graphic arts education. Instructors will also receive $500 to use toward the school’s graphic arts educational program.
Additionally, each school will receive a plaque to showcase their winning students who were honored with the Award of Excellence, Certificate of Merit and Best of Show Award.
To be eligible, instructors must hold an active educational membership with SGIA, and all entries must be produced during the 2012–2013 school year. Entries must be submitted by July 31, 2013, so get your entries in now! Visit SGIA.org for more information, or download the entry form.
