Tom Frecska Student Competition Exposes Rising Imaging Stars

Fairfax, Virginia — Student submissions in the Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition were honored at the recent SGIA Expo for displaying advanced printing ability and knowledge of their craft, and proved the upcoming wave of imaging professionals will make a mark on the industry.
“It was my distinct pleasure and honor to help judge the student 2014 Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition,” said Marshall Atkinson, COO of Visual Impressions.“The competition was tough, and I was thrilled at the amount of amazingly creative work. The ideas displayed and the level of skill was fantastic to see. Based on the level of sophistication, technical merit and distinctive work, their teachers should get a round of applause as well.”
Entrants of the competition represent secondary and post-secondary students over 25 printing categories. Submissions were entered on behalf of the students by their graphic instructors for the 2013–2014 school year, and were eligible to win an Award of Excellence for first place in their category or a Certificate of Merit for an honorable mention. Congratulations to the 2014 ASPDT Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition award winners.
Award of Excellence winners were also eligible to win the "Best of Show" award in either the secondary or post-secondary division. Congratulations to the 2014 "Best of Show" winners:
- Best of Show: Secondary — “Tilt” by Eddie Becerra, Paramount High School Awarded to the best secondary school division entry from among all category winners in the Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition.
- Best of Show: Post-Secondary — “Mola ‘Vision Tejida de la Realidad Kuna’” by Endir Nazry Roa Basto, Cenigraf - SENA Awarded to the best post-secondary school division entry from among all category winners in the Tom Frecska Student Printing Competition.
