Ulano Orange, available from GSG, is a ready-to-use SBQ-photopolymer direct emulsion formulated for imprinted sportswear printing. It features a high-contrast “masking color,” which reduces light scattering that causes loss of resolution. This makes it possible to use less-expensive white mesh without fine lines and details closing up.
It also affords easy stencil inspection. Despite its antihalation color, Orange is ultra-fast-exposing, making it suitable for shops with high stencil-making throughput, as well as shops using fluorescent tubes or other low-intensity light sources. It has a high viscosity (6,000–8,000 centipoises) that improves control and reduces the time spent when coating screens by hand. It is a good choice for coarse mesh.
Orange’s high solids content (44 percent-46 percent) results in better mesh bridging and edge definition, and fast drying. Orange resists plastisols, most wash-up solvents and some water-based textile inks. It is easy to reclaim by hand or with automatic stencil-removal equipment. Orange stencils are durable, will not become tacky in high humidity, and have excellent wet strength and exposure latitude. It comes in one-quart, and one-, five-, and 50-gallon containers.
