Orbus Exhibit & Display Group®, a trade supplier of display, exhibit and event solutions, is proud to announce that the company’s year-round environmental protection and recycling efforts saved thousands of trees, hours of energy and kept 295 tons of materials out of landfills in 2014. The company’s two manufacturing and distribution facilities — headquarters in Woodridge, IL and flagship facility in Las Vegas, NV — are certified under the ISO 14001:2004 standard, which provides guidelines to establish and maintain an environmental management system through minimizing harmful effects on the environment caused by business activities and achieving continual improvement of environmental performance. Orbus employees are encouraged daily to reduce waste headed to landfills. Orbus strives to follow strict guidelines in daily operations. In 2014, the company’s recycling efforts resulted in 206,000 lbs. of cardboard, 78,000 lbs. of aluminum, 227,000 lbs. of fabric and 78,500 lbs. of plastic being recycled at both facilities. Recycling bins in employee lunch rooms, cubicles and offices, along with fabric, plastic and paper recycling programs in the warehouses encourage and enable such results. In addition, the company also recycles batteries, electronics, old pallets and skids, and steel. “Orbus strives to protect and preserve the environment, especially in the area surrounding our manufacturing headquarters,” said Jim Concannon, Operations Manager for Orbus. “The remarkable amount of materials that we divert from landfills each year continues to grow, allowing our team to continue saving our natural resources.” The group also participates in local environmental efforts such as the annual DuPage River Sweep, which takes place in May throughout DuPage County in Illinois. This year’s cleanup program for the DuPage River area near the Woodridge, IL facility was held at the Hidden Lakes Trout Farm. On May 16, 2015, a group of Orbus employees helped to clear hundreds of pounds of trash from the river and surrounding forest, keeping the environment clean and allowing it to thrive. This was Orbus’ fourth year participating in the cleanup, and each year, volunteers are given the satisfaction of seeing an immediate impact in the surrounding environment.
