Ricoh announced recently a new, ultra-affordable, easy-to-use Direct to Garment (DTG) printer which could democratize DTG printing, making in-house short runs and one-offs a cost-effective possibility for a variety of small businesses, municipalities and other organizations. The RICOH Ri 100 has already been announced as a CES 2018 Innovation Awards Honoree.  A great fit for souvenir shops and other businesses looking to leverage the impact of branded t-shirts, canvas bags, pillows and other fabrics, the RICOH Ri 100 breaks new ground in terms of affordability and ease of use. With ready-to-go drivers and design software included alongside an intuitive heating unit for pre-press wrinkle-smoothing and post-press ink curing, users can start producing DTG applications right out of the box with minimal to no training. The compact device can fit easily on counters or desks, so it can easily be added to a business without existing dedicated space for printing equipment. The total package (RICOH Ri 100, heating unit, software and accessories) is planned to retail for less than $5,000, significantly lower than that of traditional DTG printers.  Below my signature, you can find two press releases: one about the Ri 100’s CES Innovation Awards Honoree recognition, and the other announcing the Ri 100 and going into more depth regarding its features and capabilities.
