Tharstern, who provide MIS solutions for the print, packaging and labelling industries, launched in North America just over 3 years ago and they will be exhibiting their Digital Batch Tool at Dscoop in Dallas, next week. The new tool, which is an addition to their MIS software, aims to add even more automation by batching multiple items together so that the press operator only needs to handle a single file to print several jobs. Tharstern say their customers are already automating order input and artwork preflighting and are able to submit print ready jobs to a press via JDF, but now the company has created another way to reduce touchpoints and increase value to your business. Chris Burn, Product Manager, said: “For short run length digital, the job preparation on the press is the same whatever the run length so this has a real impact on margins when you get down to run lengths of just a few copies. The Digital Batch Tool was created to mitigate this by creating a single production job out of numerous, similar orders. You submit a single file to your RIP and all of your jobs are output in sequence, separated by individual job tickets. Each batch also has a header sheet with a list of all jobs in the batch so that they are easily managed through the subsequent finishing processes.” The tool has been in development for the past few months and they have given it a big push in the last few weeks to ensure that it would be ready to exhibit at Dscoop. If you’re heading to Dscoop and would like more information on the Digital Batch Tool then visit booth 153 where there will be demonstrations on the feature. Tharstern will also be releasing more information about the tool on their website in the next few weeks.
