Salem One Shifts to Fujifilm SUPERIA ZD Plates

“Our previous plate making technology had run its course,” said Philip Kelley Jr., President, Salem One. “We launched a 90-day testing process, and reviewed three different platemaking options. In addition to quality and new technology integration, the ongoing service relationship expectation with the plate manufacturer was a major part of the decision; organizational and service strength had to be there for us to make a final decision. Through this process a front-runner clearly emerged, and we were very pleased to select Fujifilm as our new printing plate provider along with its SUPERIA ZD technology. The process-less plate technology was highly desired as we no longer maintain the cost of additional consumables or the management responsibility for effluent disposal. Salem One has been a long-time supporter of sustainability, therefore the elimination all chemicals in our platemaking process is viewed as a completed goal.”

SUPERIA ZD plates are manufactured at Fujifilm’s facility in Greenwood, South Carolina, where more than 200 Fujifilm associates contribute to the overall plate manufacturing process, from original coils of aluminum alloy, through coating and final packaging.
SUPERIA ZD plates are made with Fujifilm’s proprietary multigrain technology, applying a complex grain structure, consisting of primary grains, honeycomb grains and micropores, to an aluminum support. This multigrain structure produces a synergistic effect that results in outstanding printing efficiency. The key performance feature improvement for SUPERIA ZD is the ability to print UV ink conditions and also provide improved run length in non-UV ink environments.
