Sun Chemical’s Danny Rich Receives Godlove Award

Sun Chemical’s Danny Rich, Ph.D. was recently honored by the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) with the prestigious Godlove Award.

The Godlove Award honors current or former ISCC members who have made “long-term contributions in the field of color.” A member of the ISCC for 43 years, Rich currently is a member of the board of directors and has served as president of the board from 1998 to 2000 and as past president from 2000-2002. The ISCC is committed to advancing the field of color as it relates to art, science and industry through color education.

“Danny has contributed so much of his innovative thinking, knowledge and expertise in color to the industry and is truly dedicated to the ISCC and the educational opportunities it provides to its members,” said Juanita Parris, the Global Director of Application & Material, Analytical, Polymer and Color at Sun Chemical. “His incredible impact on the field of color has had an important impact on Sun Chemical and the industry at large. I couldn’t be more pleased to see him being honored by the ISCC.”

Rich has worked with Sun Chemical for 21 years as a senior color physicist and currently leads the color research laboratory team. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Idaho, a master’s in physics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate in color science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Rich has published his research on a wide range of of color science and engineering topics, including visual perception, instrumentation and mathematical modeling

“I am truly honored to receive this award from my friends and colleagues at the ISCC,” Rich said. “I am proud to be a part of an organization and industry that the emphasizes the importance of innovation and furthering education.”

Rich accepted the award at the annual business luncheon of the ISCC during their joint meeting with the Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) annual technical conference on March 18 in Minneapolis, Minn.
