Summary:

During recent TAGA conferences, I have presented a number of papers describing various facets of an on-going research study of Colour Reproduction which I have been involved in. The total activity, which was spread over more than 6 years, was partly funded from external sources and involved various collaborators. The papers presented have included general discussion on the issues associated with a colorimetrically based approach to Graphic Arts colour reproduction as well as more specific ones on Appearance Matching (for various viewing conditions and across different media) and Device Characterisation and Modelling. The work is now completed and this paper presents the latest findings on, Device Characterisation and Gamut Compression, and shows how the whole can be brought together to provide a complete colour reproduction model.
