Summary:

Assembly of complicated composite negatives is easily accomplished by the use of photographic products which depend for their utility on the Herschel effect. A description of this effect is given. The use of this method depends on the unique characteristics of a photographic product in which yellow light exposure lowers the density and subsequent white light exposure restores density. A complete practical demonstration is made in which Kodak Autopositive Film, Thin Base, is employed to illustrate the usefulness of these characteristics in assembling an otherwise complicated negative.
