A Photographic Technique for Map Printing.

The Pictoline technique of map preparation consists of transforming continuous-tone aerial photographs into linotype map images by photographic masking methods. Such a line negative may be reproduced by lithography without screening the image. This method is also applied to the production of colored maps referred to as Pictochrome maps.
