A Photopolymer Image Transfer System.

Pages: 11

Summary:

Exposure of a photopolymerizable layer converts a monomeric constituent to a polymer and thereby changes the physical characteristics of the layer. Changes in viscosity and tackiness of the layer have been used to devise an image-forming system which is developed with dry, colored toners and can be thermally transferred to a wide variety of receptor materials such as papers, metals, foils, plastics, etc. The structure, photographic characteristics, and process of use are discussed, and some possible applications to the graphic arts industry are described.
