Pages: 12

Summary:

The changes which have occurred in the means of preparing typeset input for reproduction have led to variations in image quality. An analytical method is suggested for comparing images, together with a means by which the output of phototypesetting may be optimized under production conditions. The use of the approach is discussed in relation to machine diagnosis, photographic reproduction and printing. The implications for emerging imaging systems are considered.
