Summary:
A new test procedure called STORC (Screening Test for Optimum Reproduction Conditions has been developed by RIT. The key component of this procedure is a test object which when screened in the camera and then printed, allows the printer to readily select exposure conditions that will provide halftones for optimum tone reproduction. Test results can be used for programming the various exposure control devices available, as well as for use with simple timers. The analysis procedure is simple and does not require the use of graphs. The test, when properly conducted, not only includes the effects of screening conditions used, but also takes into account the effects of press, ink and paper conditions.
