Abrasion Resistance Of Printed Paper Goods.

Details:

Year: 1986
Pages: 13

Summary:

The incidence of damage to printed paper goods, which seemed to increase in 1982, led to the investigation of ink and paper as possible causes of the problem. Conventional rub testers, such as the Sutherland, did not generate the same type of damage seen in the field. Dr. Gaston Vandermeerssche, who developed the CAT for the purpose of correlating laboratory testing of metal containers with actual shipping results was asked to adapt the principle of his test for predicting the performance of printed paper goods. The correlation of this test with field results and the range of abrasion due to ink, paper, and processing conditions is discussed.
