Summary:
A method of dampening paper samples reproducibly just prior to a moisture pick test with the LTF Pick Tester is described. A special hammer assembly is used. Comparisons of the degree and mode of failure of paper surfaces are shown by profile charts. The profiles of failures produced with and without dampening show large numerical differences between papers with varying degrees of moisture resistance. The results of validating press tests are described.
