An Electronic Halftone Camera.

An electronic halftone camera, which views either a transparency or an opaque photo graphic image and reproduces this information in halftone form, is described. A schematic diagram of the entire machine is given and the dot producing electro-optical transducer is described in detail. Examples of work accomplished with this camera are presented and potential applications are discussed. The camera is essentially a device which scans the image point by point and reproduces in the same fashion. Unique tonal changes may be made between the density of the original copy and the density of the reproduction because point by point scanning and reproduction is used. The possibility of obtaining various dot shapes in the halftone image is given.
