Summary:
The Reverse Lithographic Process, which utilizes a non-aqueous fountain solution and a special lithographic plate, is a recent development of the Central Research Laboratories of the Interchemical Corporation. This process makes it possible to use classes of resins and solvents which could not previously be lithographed. Certain advantages can accrue to the lithographic industry from this development, among which are properties important to the food packaging field. Other departures from the conventional lithographic process will also be discussed. These relate to projected modifications of the process concerning the areas of fountain solution and the offset principle. Factors which influence utilization of developments of this type will be suggested.
