Summary:

The recently developed field of Fiber Optics holds considerable promise for the purpose of fast recording of pictorial data in various forms. Applications to high speed photography, cathode ray tube photography, photocopying systems, image dissection, etc., are discussed. High photometric efficiency as well as high resolving power is achieved using Fiber Optics. The spectral range is extended in the infrared region up to 6 and further possibilities of extension of spectral range in ultraviolet and far infrared is pointed out. Basic limitations to Fiber Optics set by diffraction and waveguide effects are pointed out.
