Definition of Ergonomics: Derived from ergo, meaning work, and nomos, meaning laws; i.e., the study of laws or principles governing the design of work. Focus is on a worker's capabilities and limitations in relation to task demands so that health and safety are not compromised. demands so that health and safety are not compromised. The presentation will endeavor to show areas of ergonomics as applied to the graphic arts industry that would improve worker's capabilities and at the same time make it less strenuous and stressful. This will be illustrated by slides of male and female psycho-physical studies. Also included are new graphic arts equipment incorporating the latest principles of ergonomics.
