Summary:
A laboratory technique has been developed by which the amount of ink required to produce a depth of color on a given paper or board stock can be determined. It requires very little board and ink and considerably less time than production runs. Accuracy appears to be well within 10% of results obtained by analysis of production usage, which are themselves variable. The merits and deficiencies of the method are discussed.
