Measuring the Longitudinal Extension and Contraction of a Moving Web.

Because changes in the length of paper as it proceeds through a web-fed press affect register between units and therefore, print quality, it is an important factor in any research concerned with web-fed presses. A method for measuring such changes in web length has been developed and is explained in detail.
