Mechanisms of Plate Wear and Failure in Anodized Aluminum Litho Plates.

The wear characteristics of anodized litho plates are directly related to the anodizing conditions. Plates anodized at low voltages generally have softer surfaces and wear more rapidly. Electron microscopy can be used to advantage in characterizing the structure of anodic coatings. The grain surface and post anodizing treatment conditions are also important factors in determining plate performance.
