New Applications for Laser Imaging Systems.

Flatbed laser scanning and writing systems have been used in the graphic arts industry for the past several years. These systems are used to image film for pattern plates, and to image diazo coated offset and dilitho printing plates. The following new applications are described in this paper: A technique of storing and retrieving newspaper page pasteup images; A method to automatically collect page density information during plate preparation for use in control of ink flow during press run; A second generation, high resolution, large format flatbed laser writing system for imaging information synthesized by a computer.
