Summary:

The equations published previously by the author (TAGA 1977) have been quite successfully used for calculating black and white halftone exposure times. When applied to the calculation of exposures for direct screen color separations, where the demand to fit a required characteristic is much more stringent, these equations need to be fine tuned. As a consequence, a reinvestigation of the mathematics involved had led to the development of new equations for K and P which better fit color separation as well as black and white requirements in general. The author presents the theoretical development leading to these new equations plus some advice on the technique of their implementation using a computer or programmable calculator.
