A Voyage to Lilliput - The Impacts of Nanotechnology on the Printing Industry

Nanotechnology promises to cause sweeping changes across every technology in our society in the next twenty years. These changes in computers, lighting, energy cells, batteries, bio-medicine and others hold the promise of a more efficient and more sustainable world in the future. But some of these changes are already starting to happen. The printing industry is one example where nanotechnology has already begun changing what we do now, and those changes will continue to impact us as time goes forward. A definition of "nanotechnology" is given, and a discussion of impacts on printing today and tomorrow are reviewed. The world of printing is changing rapidly and nanotechnology will increase that pace substantially.
