Summary:
In the past five years, at least three different formulas have been proposed as the correct way of computing an ink trap percentage. This paper presents the three different methods of computation. An example is calculated all three ways and the results are interpreted in light of each corresponding definition. The results show that the definition of an inktrap number and its computational formula are two different things. It is concluded that a widely accepted definition of ink trap is necessary in order to clarify the meaning of ink trap percentages.
