Year: 1988
Pages: 12

Summary:

TAGA was organized as TALI in April, 1948, during a meeting of the Research Committee of LTF, now GATF. It became TAGA officially at the 1950 Annual Conference. A report has been given on the first business meeting, and on the status of the printing industry in 1947-1949. This history includes the dominance at the time, of letterpress, a brief description of LTF/GATF, the Institute of Paper Chemistry and other research institutes and technical associations, and reasons behind the rise of offset lithography. The program for the first conference covered topics which are still the subjects of present day research. This program set the pattern for future conferences and TAGA's growth. TAGA's important role in providing a forum for and the reporting of extraordinary progress in the printing industry during the next 40 years has also been described.
