Summary:
The rosette structure in the traditional halftoning technique for four color printing is normally fixed, but it can also be periodically variant when moireis present. The two extreme appearances of the rosette have been described as clear and dot centered. In this paper the morphology of the rosette is discussed in depth, and its relation is investigated with color balance. An improvement is presented of the traditional halftoning system that both minimizes the visibility of the rosette and optimizes color balance.
