Technical Analysis of Paper Properties.

Progress toward automation in check handling necessitated a study to determine the extent that check paper could be improved to fulfill the requirements of automatic check handling systems. Correlation coefficients, based on 250 samplings and about 1,000 tests, have been determined between some of the basic physical properties of 24# and 26# sulfite stock, both watermarked and unwatermarked. This study facilitated the improvement of the quality of the paper purchased by The Todd Company, Inc. by a marked degree.
